The three-toed box turtles are making more local cameos now that spring is here (local = south-central US). Although the intentions might come from a good place, please avoid any temptation to assist seemingly lost turtles by returning them to a nearby pond or stream. These turtles typically spend most of their very long lives in a small area in or near a forest. When removed from those spaces, they will spend the remainder of their lives trying to find their homes once more. These amazing creatures can live for almost 100 years in the wild (incredible!) and that's way too long for anyone to have to feel homesick. Unless they are in immediate danger, it's best to just leave them alone.
